LPRD concert series to continue this Wednesday, Thursday

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department summer concert series continue this week.

The Lawrence City Band performance theme for the week is La Noche Caliente. It will be held 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, east of the bandstand at historic South Park, 1141 Massachusetts St. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved to the Lied Center, 1600 Stewart Dr., on the University of Kansas campus.

The Brown Bag Concert Series will continue this week with a performance by the Mike Shurtz Group. The band’s performance will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 24, at corner of Ninth and Massachusetts Sts., in front of US Bank. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held at Watkins Community Museum, 1047 Massachusetts St.

It is recommended to wear a mask when participants cannot social distance with non- household individuals.
