City crews will close 9th Street between Emery Road and Iowa Street for a variety of construction projects, including sanitary sewer work, stormwater system repairs and street patching. The closure will occur July 19-23.

The roadway will close at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 19, and will remain closed until the work is completed. The road is expected to be reopened by the afternoon of Friday, July 23. During the closure, traffic will be detoured to 6th Street, utilizing Iowa Street on the west edge of the work, and Tennessee Street and Kentucky Street on the east edge.

Local traffic will be maintained at all times. Property owners and/or occupants will be given a minimum of 48 hours’ notice of any access restrictions to their property and a minimum of 24 hours’ notice of any planned sewer service interruptions.

Transit bus Route 4 will be affected by the work. To find more information about the reroute, visit lawrencetransit.org or call 785-864-4644. You can also stay up-to-date by downloading the My Bus Lawrence app, and follow Lawrence Transit on Facebook and Twitter.

The work has been highly coordinated through multiple City divisions in an attempt to reduce the number of times the roadway is closed throughout the year.

Updates will be provided as necessary. All project timelines are subject to change due to weather and other project-related delays. For more information on construction projects and traffic alterations in Lawrence, visit lawrenceks.org/construction/.
