The Affordable Housing Advisory Board (AHAB) of the City of Lawrence is now accepting applications for awards of funds from the City’s Affordable Housing Trust Fund. The fund will allocate up to $1,225,000 to selected applicants from this round.
In their continuing efforts to provide all people in Lawrence with access to live in safe, functional and aesthetically unique neighborhoods, the AHAB has a strong commitment to expanding affordable housing to all Lawrence neighborhoods and all areas of the City. The AHAB also has a strong commitment to racial equity and inclusion in their allocation process.
Eligible projects include acquisition, rehabilitation and development of affordable housing and supportive services so that all persons in the community have access to independent living with dignity. Geographic diversity will be considered when recommending applications. Application materials and additional information can be found online at lawrenceks.org/pds/affordable-housing.
Applications must be submitted electronically by 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 1, 2021, to Lea Roselyn, lroselyn@lawrenceks.org. Additionally, mail one copy of your signed application to City of Lawrence (6th East 6th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044), Attn: Lea Roselyn. The mailed application should be post marked no later than the day of the application deadline.
Applicants will be asked to prepare a brief presentation to the Affordable Housing Advisory Board at their online meeting on Monday, Nov. 8, 2021. The Board will meet online from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Affordable Housing Advisory Board will forward recommendations for funding to the City Commission, who will approve the awards at an upcoming regular meeting.
