LPRD offering transportation for Special Populations programs

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s Special Populations division is providing transportation for program participants in need of assistance.

Individuals requiring transportation to Special Populations’ programs Coffeehouseand Social Bowling transportation service. This new system will allow residents to participate in programs they are otherwise unable to due to inadequate transportation.

Coffeehouse, which includes dance and bingo, will be held 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, at East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 E. 15th St. The cost to attend the program and use the transportation service is $25; enroll online at http://lprd.org/activity?n=422200. Without transportation, the cost is $15; enroll online at http://lprd.org/activity?n=422205. Deadline to enroll is Friday, Oct. 15.

Social Bowling will be held 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Royal Crest Lanes, 933 Iowa St. The cost to attend Social Bowling and use the transportation service is $25; enroll online at http://lprd.org/activity?n=422300.  Without transportation, the cost is $15; enroll online at http://lprd.org/activity?n=422301. Deadline to enroll is Friday, Oct. 8.

Please allow those with true transportation needs to use this service. Face coverings are required for the entire ride. Eating, drinking, chewing tobacco or smoking is prohibited in any vehicle providing the transportation. This option is limited to Lawrence city limits only. Participants will need to be ready at least 10 minutes prior to the pick-up time. Individuals may be on the bus for up to 45 minutes, though the exact time may fluctuate based on the number of riders.
