Eagles to be spotted this winter

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s Prairie Park Nature Center is hosting a field trip to observe wintering bald eagles.

Watching Winter Eagles invites participants on a field trip to observe wintering bald eagles along the Kaw River and lakes Clinton and Perry. Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars and cameras to capture images of the eagles. The program runs 9 a.m.-noon Thursday, Jan. 6. Participants in each trip will meet at Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St.

This class is open to participants 18 years-old and up. Cost is $15 per person.

Face coverings are encouraged and appreciated for visitors to City facilities. Masks must be worn at all times while visiting Holcom Park Recreation Center and other LPRD facilities unless actively participating in a class, during which participants 11 years-old and older may remove their face coverings.
