Starting Monday, January 3, the City of Lawrence will increase COVID-19 safety precautions in City facilities.
The decision to make adjustments comes in response to the recent increase in cases and the Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health Community Transmission Indicator moving from yellow to red.
Those visiting City facilities will need to be aware of added safety procedures and precautions to help protect community members and City employees. Masks are required for everyone older than two and, where applicable, there will be signs at facility entrances that alert visitors to specific safety precautions. City Hall and City Hall Riverfront will remain open to the public but people are strongly encouraged to make payments and submit forms either online or via email, mail or phone rather than visiting City buildings in-person. Recreation facilities will temporarily suspend general exercise and free-play. Scheduled programs at these facilities will be limited and facility cleaning will be enhanced. Please contact the appropriate facility for more information; phone numbers are listed below.
The Winter Emergency Shelter will remain open with added precautions.
