Improve your dance skills with LPRD’s Dance Fundamentals II

Kevin PowellCity, Parks & Recreation

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is offering a returning workshop to continue the development of dance skills.

Dance Fundamentals II provides participants an opportunity to learn triple-rhythm dance movements and patterns, such as sailor steps, coaster steps, crossing triples, knee pops, boogie walks, camel walks and sailor shuffles. Dancers will review some of the techniques explained in Dance Fundamentals I and brush up on arm positions, or port de bras.

The three-hour dance workshop is available to participants 15 years-old and older and will be held 1:15-4:15 p.m. Sunday, March 13, at Sports Pavilion Lawrence®, 100 Rock Chalk Lane. Cost is $20 per person. Singles and partners are welcome.

A follow-up program focusing on spins and turns, Dance Fundamentals III, will be offered Sunday, May 15.
