Intersection of 19th & Alabama to close beginning July 5

Kevin PowellCity, Construction, Municipal Services and Operations

As part of a storm sewer improvement program, City crews will need to close the intersection of 19th & Alabama beginning Tuesday, July 5 and going through early August, pending weather and other project-related delays.

Upon completion of the work at this intersection, the contractor will begin working on a new storm sewer under 19th Street from Arkansas to the west side of Alabama.  That work is scheduled to be completed by the end of September. While work along 19th Street is underway, the detour for east and west traffic is 23rd Street.

During the ongoing construction, signage and detours will be in place to direct traffic. Expect delays in the area and use alternate routes if possible.

All project timelines are subject to change due to weather and other project-related delays. For more information on construction projects and traffic alterations in Lawrence, visit lawrenceks.org/construction.
