LPRD offers hip-hop, ballet combination class for youth

Kevin PowellCity, Parks & Recreation

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is offering blended hip-hop and ballet classes for aspiring dancers to explore a broader realm of dance.

Ballet and Hip-Hop are combination classes, offered in three sections based on age, which sample the fundamentals of ballet and hip-hop. Participants will explore the similarities and differences of each style through hip-hop’s high energy and sharp, edgy movements and the fluid, graceful control of ballet. Both forms of movement build self-confidence, discipline, body awareness, coordination, balance, strength and flexibility.

Mini Ballet and Hip-Hop is available for children three years-old to four years-old and is held 9:05-9:50 a.m. Enroll online at http://lprd.org/activity?n=414012.

Beaming Ballet and Hip-Hop is available for children five years-old to six years-old and is held 9:55-10:45 a.m. Enroll online at http://lprd.org/activity?n=414011.
