Comment on the draft 2023 safety performance measure targets

The Lawrence-Douglas County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is releasing draft targets for the 2023 safety measures. Safety measures include: the number of fatalities and serious injuries, rate of fatalities and serious injuries per 100 million VMT, and the number of non-motorized fatalities & serious injuries.

These annual targets are federally required performance measures under Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act – FAST Act.

The 15-day public comment period for these draft targets starts on October 14, 2022 and will end on October 28, 2022.

These targets will come before the Lawrence-Douglas County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Policy Board for approval on November 17, 2022.  Following MPO Policy Board approval these targets will be incorporated into the FFY23 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and into Transportation 2040 Appendix F and subsequently Transportation 2050.
