Community Arts Grants

The Community Art Grant program is funded through transient guest tax (TGT) revenue (tax paid by hotel guests).

The CAG program is restarting in a big way!
Since 2021, we have seen an increase and recovery in TGT after a brief hiatus of the program due to COVID-19. We are increasing the maximum award amount as well as preparing to distribute a greater number of awards. We are looking forward to the future with hope and anticipation and are excited to review this year’s applications!

This year, grant amounts are anticipated to range from $5,000 to $15,000.

Why offer CAG?

The purpose of the CAG program is to bolster the accomplishments of the arts community here in Lawrence, as well as the strategic goals identified in the City-wide Cultural Plan.

Who is eligible?

Any person or organization with a Lawrence Kansas address is welcome to apply, given that their project is designed to meet the criteria of the CAG program.

How do I apply?

If you’re interested in applying, we encourage you: Don’t wait!
The application window closes on Saturday, December 17th.
