Do you make the best hot cocoa in Lawrence? Enter the Valentine’s Day Market and Hot Cocoa Contest

The City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the Valentine’s Day Market and Hot Cocoa Contest Saturday, Feb. 11, at the historic Carnegie Building, 200 West 9th St. The market is free and open to the public and will feature a competition for hot cocoa connoisseurs.

The Hot Cocoa Contest is open to anyone from novices to professionals. Contestants’ creations will undergo a judging process before winners are announced and awarded with a small prize. Both traditional and more creative beverages are welcome, but all entries must be non-alcoholic. Entry fee is $5 per contestant.

The Valentine’s Day Market will feature a variety of local food and craft vendors offering sweet Valentine’s gifts including chocolates, flowers, cards, art and more. The market will be open 10 a.m.-4 p.m., with the Hot Cocoa Contest beginning at 1 p.m.
