Community Building to close for floor refinishing, general maintenance

As part of a regular general maintenance and floor refinishing schedule and with the Winter Emergency Shelter closing after Sunday night, the City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department will be refreshing the Community Building, 115 W. 11th St., which means it will close for public use Monday, March 13-Friday, March 24. During the closure, all flooring will be refinished and general maintenance will be performed throughout the building.

If you are looking to rent a facility or register for a program during the two-week shutdown, staff will be available at the Parks and Recreation Administrative office, 1141 Massachusetts St., to assist with enrollments and rentals 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily, except for Friday, March 17, when the facility will be closed to foot traffic.  All other parks and recreation facilities will be open at their standard operating hours to provide assistance.

Once work is completed, the Community Building will reopen to the public Saturday, March 25, with the following hours:

8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Monday-Friday
9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday
10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Sunday
