City Commission

The City Commission holds regular meetings on the first, second, and third Tuesdays of the month. Unless otherwise noted, meetings start at 5:45 p.m. and will be held in the City Commission Room, First Floor of City Hall, 6 E. 6th Street. Please see the instructions listed at the top of each agenda for submitting written documents to the agenda.

Bart Littlejohn

About:

Bart Littlejohn has been a resident of Lawrence since 1995.  Within that time he has been involved with Junior Achievement and St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee; among other local organizations.  Most recently, he was the president of the Pinckney Neighborhood Association, chair of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board, and serves on the Douglas County Community Health Plan Steering Committee.

 

He is a graduate of the University of Kansas with a degree in Political Science and works as a marketing manager at the research equipment company, Pinnacle Technology Inc.

 

Bart was nominated to serve as Mayor on December 5, 2023 his term as Mayor will end on December 3, 2024.

Lisa Larsen

About:

Lisa is from western Kansas. She is a Fort Hays State graduate in Geology. She formerly owned an environmental consulting firm for 22 years. In 2015 Lisa was appointed to the City Commission to fill a vacant position. Subsequently, she was elected to the City Commission in 2017 and 2021. Lisa has two children and five grandchildren.

Brad Finkeldei

About:

Brad Finkeldei is a community leader who has invested 20 years into volunteering to help make Lawrence a great place to live, work and raise a family. Prior to being elected to the City Commission, he served on boards for a number of community organizations, including Ballard Community Services, Lawrence Family Promise, the St. John’s Catholic Church Finance Committee and the Lawrence Jayhawk Rotary Club. Brad previously served on the Lawrence-Douglas County Planning Commission.

Finkeldei is a partner with the law firm of Stevens & Brand, LLP, where he focuses his practice on litigation, banking and governmental law. He is a 1999 graduate of the University of Kansas School of Law, and a 1996 graduate of Kansas State University, where he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Economics. Brad is married to Amy Finkeldei and they have two teenaged daughters, Raegan and Chaney.

Amber Sellers

About:

Amber Sellers is a Kansas native, born and raised in Wichita. She lived in Lawrence from 1999 until 2008, receiving her bachelor’s degree in sports science and master’s degree in health education from the University of Kansas. In 2018, Sellers completed her master’s degree in public administration from the University of Missouri- Kansas City, moving back to Lawrence in 2019. Amber has professional experience in early childhood care and education, community health, public policy, and legislative affairs. Amber is the Advocacy Director for Trust Women Foundation.

 

Prior to being elected to the City Commission, she served on the Human Relations Commission from 2020-2021. Her civic and social service involvement includes The Black Women's Agenda, Inc., Kansas Birth Equity Network Advisory Board, League of Women Voters, and NAACP. Sellers is an active member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated, a Historical Black Greek Letter Organization.
