All evening activities, programs, leagues canceled, facilities to remain open for public drop-in use

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department has canceled all afternoon and evening programming due to inclement weather. All programs including: fitness classes, adult sports, youth sports, aquatic classes and other programming offered by the department will be affected.

All recreation facilities will remain open this evening with regular hours for drop-in use including, weight and cardio areas, free play and walking and will open tomorrow on regular schedules with all programming and classes being held.  Facility hours include:

Prairie Park Nature Center will be open for walk-in visitors; however, it will be restricted to only 20 people at a time.

1-4 p.m. Sunday

The Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive, will continue to be open for only lap swimming and warm water workouts. The zero-depth and children’s area will continue to be closed for open swim.

LPRD facilities require face coverings to be worn at all times while not actively participating in a program or activity. Face coverings may also be removed when working out with weights and cardio equipment or walking the track. Masks must be worn while in the aquatic center; however, they may be removed when in the water.
Touchless temperature checks will continue to be available for all entering a facility. All facilities will use access cards for entry.
