In order to safeguard the health, safety, and welfare of the residents of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, and to establish and to maintain high standards of integrity, skill, and practice in the various construction fields, the Governing Body has found that it is necessary to regulate those fields. As part of that regulation, it is fundamentally fair and necessary that there be an appeals process. For that purpose, in Chapter 5, Article 16 of the City Code, as amended, the Governing Body established the Building Code Board of Appeals by Ordinance No. 9635, adopted May 7, 2019.
The board shall not consist of more than 11 voting members with specialized backgrounds and one member at-large.
