Celebration of Kansas’ statehood set

Lawrence Parks and Recreation’s Prairie Park Nature Center will be hosting a Kansas statehood anniversary celebration highlighting the importance of some of the state’s natural symbols.

Natural Symbols of Kansas will be held 1:30-2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, at the nature center, 2730 Harper St. The historical significance of bison, cottonwood, honey bee and other symbols will be discussed along with a special appearance by Kansa, the nature center’s bald eagle. No enrollment is required.
