Stuart Boley grew up in Lenexa, Kansas and attended KU, graduating in 1977 with a B.A. in English. He met and married his wife Lisa in Lawrence, and together they raised their three children here. Stuart retired in 2009 after a 32-year career as an auditor with the Internal Revenue Service. He also worked from June, 2011 to July, 2017 as the administrative officer of the Douglas County Community Foundation.
Over the years Stuart volunteered with the Lawrence Community Nursery School, the Schwegler Neighborhood Association, Boy Scout Troop 59, Friends of Eutin, the Sister Cities Advisory Board and the Lawrence Traffic Safety Commission. Elected to the City Commission in 2015, he also serves on the Affordable Housing Advisory Board, the eXplore Lawrence Governing Board, the Public Incentives Review Commission, the Destination Management, Inc. Board and as a Master Food Volunteer with the Douglas County Extension Service.
