Revised Western Development Plan Area Map

The West of K-10 Plan was adopted in 2009 and was revised in 2015 and 2021. Now that the comprehensive plan, Plan 2040, has been updated, area plans are being reviewed, re-evaluated, and revised to ensure they reflect the vision of the community and comprehensive plan.

The plan name will be revised to Revised Western Development Plan to more accurately reflect the planning area. The West of K-10 planning area is located primarily west of K-10 Highway (South Lawrence Trafficway), north and south of US Highway 40. The planning area also contains some land east of K-10.

The best source of knowledge about an area are the people who live there! You know the features that make the area special, the areas that pose special challenges, or the historical significance of certain features.

 

Ways to Get Involved:

  • Provide comment by emailing or calling us at WestDevPlan@lawrenceks.org or 785-832-7700.
  • Attend an in-person meeting. Meetings will be held throughout the planning process and posted here once scheduled. Notification of future meetings will be sent to property owners within the planning area through the mail.

Process:

  • We have met with specialists to discuss topics that may have an impact on future land use planning: such as transportation, schools, historical and environmental resources, utilities, etc. These meetings will be recorded and shared below once the recordings are made available.
  • We have reviewed and analyzed existing conditions, items raised at the special topic meetings, and public input to draft revised plan with proposed recommendations.
  • We will provide the Planning Commission with general information on the plan at their October 11, 2023 mid-month meeting which will be held at 7:30 AM in the City Commission room. the public is welcome to attend, but the Commission will not take public comments.
  • We will hold in-person public meetings to present draft recommendations and receive feedback.
