Chief Jim McSwain Park

1941 Haskell Ave.

HISTORY
Chief Jim McSwain Park at 1941 Haskell Ave. is a 5-acre plot of land developed in the 1960s.

The park originally was going to be named for firefighters because of its proximity to the fire training facility, but the name was not approved by the City Commission.

Additional development took place in the 1990s to create the shelter and update the playground.

In 2013, the park was named to honor long-time fire chief Jim McSwain. A ceremony was held May 10, 2013, naming the park Chief Jim McSwain Park. Dedicated in honor of all firefighters.
