Electronics Recycling Event 2024
Teknix Solutions is returning to partner with the City of Lawrence to host the 2024 Electronics Recycling Event. Check out the flyer for the event (PDF).
When: June 8, 2024, from 9 AM to 1 PM
Where: Free State High School – 4700 Overland Dr., Lawrence, KS

- Follow signage to enter off of Overland Dr. (between Wakarusa and Folks Rds.) to the East of the school and then travel North.
- Please stay in your vehicle at all times while on site.

Materials Accepted by Teknix Solutions:
- Anything that uses electricity or has a cord, including, but not limited to:
- computers*, laptops, monitors**, speakers, keyboards, mice, servers,
- printers, microwaves, TVs**, gaming systems,
- light fixtures (not bulbs! see list below), non-PCB ballasts,
- stereos, radios, phones*, audio / visual equipment,
- lab equipment, cables, battery backup systems,
- other small appliances
*Teknix’s certified equipment handlers take every precaution to guarantee data safety. Any equipment they receive is securely destroyed on site or wiped clean using NIST SP 800-88 standards.
**CRT TVs and monitors will be accepted for a fee: $40/each for all sizes of CRT TVs and CRT Monitors. Teknix will accept CASH only!
Materials Not Accepted by Teknix Solutions:
- All media, VHS Tapes, CDs, DVDs
- Vapes, vape pens, e-cigarettes
- Fire alarms, smoke detectors, thermometers
- All light bulbs, PCB ballasts
- Chemicals of any kind and household batteries (Lawrence residents may make an appointment to take these items to Household Hazardous Waste)
- Tires, furniture
- Large appliances, and devices containing Freon, such as refrigerators

Thank you to everyone who attended our 2023 Electronics Recycling event on Saturday, May 13, at Free State High School. Early totals show that we collected over 66,480 lbs of electronics! That means that our event kept 66,480 lbs of electronic waste out of landfills.

Since 2008, the City of Lawrence and Douglas County have hosted periodic electronics recycling events, inviting customers to drop off their recyclable electronics free of charge.
Years 2008-2018 in the table below reflect the combined totals from two electronics recycling events per year. Totals from years 2020-2023 were from one event per year. Events that also collected paper for shredding are in parenthesis.
