The City provides residents with many opportunities to recycle. Before you throw something in the trash, check if it can be recycled.
Projects & Policies for Citizens:
- Curbside Recycling: The City provides single-stream recycling for residential customers. Single-stream recycling means all permitted recycling can go into the same recycling container.
- Hazardous Waste Disposal: Household hazardous waste includes paint, cleaners, batteries, and motor oil. The City of Lawrence and Douglas County offer options for conveniently and safely managing hazardous waste.
- Recyclable Materials Directory: Want to know how to recycle other items like cell phones, tires, etc.? Search the directory for where you can recycle these items in the Lawrence area.
The City hosts two electronic recycling events each year. Staff and volunteers collect electronics to be recycled rather than landfilled.
