Holiday Tree-Cycling Collection

The City of Lawrence offers residents an opportunity to return their live-cut holiday trees to nature with the Tree-Cycling program, in which the trees are given a second life as wildlife habitat. Residents hoping to utilize the Tree-Cycling program should place their live-cut trees at the curb or alley by 6 a.m. on their collection service day the 2nd week through the last week of January each year. Residents in apartment complexes should place the trees to the side of the dumpster area – not in front of the dumpster – to allow easy collection for staff. All artificial items including tinsel, lights, ornaments and tree stands should be removed from the tree before placing it at the curb. For more information on recycling holiday lights, visit the Recyclable Materials Directory.
