Applying for a position with Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical (LDCFM) requires submitting specific documents and meeting key prerequisites. To streamline the process, we encourage applicants to gather the following materials ahead of time:
Required Application Materials
- Employment Application
- Complete and submit an online application with all relevant details.

- Resume and Cover Letter
- Upload a current resume and an introductory cover letter highlighting your qualifications and interest in the position.
- Professional References
- Provide contact information for three professional references.
- Motor Vehicle License(s)
- Include a valid driver’s license number.
- Note: Your driving history will be reviewed as part of the process.
- Kansas EMT/Paramedic Certificates
- Submit current, valid Kansas EMT or Paramedic certifications, or National Registry equivalents.
- Additional Certifications
- Include any other relevant professional or training certifications.
- Candidate Physical Abilities Testing (CPAT) Certificate
- A valid CPAT certificate is required at the time of application closure.
- CPAT certificates are valid for one year from the issue date.
Post-Offer Requirements
If you are selected for hire, the following additional steps must be completed:
- Background Check
- Drug Screen
- Post-Offer Physical Examination
- Conducted in accordance with NFPA 1582 standards.
- Non-Smoking Agreement
- All new hires must sign a non-smoking agreement.
