Applying for a position with Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical (LDCFM) requires submitting specific documents and meeting key prerequisites. To streamline the process, we encourage applicants to gather the following materials ahead of time:

Required Application Materials

  1. Employment Application
  2. Resume and Cover Letter
    • Upload a current resume and an introductory cover letter highlighting your qualifications and interest in the position.
  3. Professional References
    • Provide contact information for three professional references.
  4. Motor Vehicle License(s)
    • Include a valid driver’s license number.
    • Note: Your driving history will be reviewed as part of the process.
  5. Kansas EMT/Paramedic Certificates
    • Submit current, valid Kansas EMT or Paramedic certifications, or National Registry equivalents.
  6. Additional Certifications
    • Include any other relevant professional or training certifications.
  7. Candidate Physical Abilities Testing (CPAT) Certificate
    • A valid CPAT certificate is required at the time of application closure.
    • CPAT certificates are valid for one year from the issue date.

Post-Offer Requirements

If you are selected for hire, the following additional steps must be completed:

  • Background Check
  • Drug Screen
  • Post-Offer Physical Examination
    • Conducted in accordance with NFPA 1582 standards.
  • Non-Smoking Agreement
    • All new hires must sign a non-smoking agreement.
