The International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) Local 1596 was chartered on January 4, 1966. From that day forward our membership has grown steadily from eight founding fathers to over one hundred men and women.
Local 1596 is chartered under the International Association of Firefighters and exclusively represents full-time, paid professional members of the Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical Department.
