Traffic Control Technician

Starting Salary:  $16.38 to $23.42 Per Hour
(Starting Salary Typically at Entry Level of Pay Range)

Responsibilities:    Provide responsible technical duties in support of the activities and services of the traffic engineering division including installing and maintaining traffic control signs and markings, performing field maintenance services, sign design, sign fabrication and inventory control.  Key job duties include completing data entry and various forms to document work completed, equipment and/or supplies used.  Other key job duties include assisting with traffic counting via equipment and manual counts.  May be required to respond to emergency calls to install temporary control devices and direct traffic as needed.  Will be assigned duties to support snow removal operations. The Traffic Control Technician provides additional assistance to the division supervisory and technical staff as assigned.

Qualifications:      Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade required; prefer education be supplemented by specialized training in sign design and fabrication, sign installation, sign field maintenance, traffic control requirements or a related field. Strongly prefer two years of increasingly responsible experience in sign design and fabrication, sign installation, sign field maintenance or a related field. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s license within six-months of hire.  Possession of, or ability to obtain, IMSA Work Zone and Level I or II Signs and MARKINGS certification within one year of appointment. IMSA Level I Signals, and CFOT Level I within two years.  The successful candidate must pass a background check, post-offer physical and drug screen.
