Department continues celebrating Month of Sharing

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department facilities continue to collect toys as part of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots celebrating a Month of Sharing.  Citizens may participate by donating toys to be given to deserving children in the community.

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department will be collecting new, unused, unopened toys at all its facilities. All toys collected will be donated to Toys for Tots, assisting those in need this holiday season. Citizens who would like to participate are asked to bring in a new, unused, unopened toy to any Parks and Recreation Department facility and place it in the decorated, seasonal box at the facility.

New, unused, unopened toys are being collected at the following locations:

Sports Pavilion Lawrence, 100 Rock Chalk Lane; the Community Building, 115 West 11th St.; East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 East 15th St.; Holcom Park Recreation Center, 2700 West 27th St.; Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive, Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St. and the Parks and Recreation Administrative Office, in South Park, 1141 Massachusetts St.

The Month of Sharing will conclude Friday, Dec. 20, to allow for distribution.
