Canopy demolition in alley right-of-way at the 800 block of Massachusetts and Vermont to begin next week

On Monday, March 18th, demolition work will begin on the pedestrian canopy, sidewalks, and underground infrastructure in the alley right-of-way located at the 800 block of Massachusetts and Vermont Streets. The project will also affect some of the parking spaces in the City-owned parking lot located east of Vermont Street between 8th and 9th Streets. The southern end of the parking lot will be closed for the duration of the project for the staging of materials, supplies and equipment. Link to MAP (pdf).

Demolition will start at 9th Street and proceed north to 8th Street. After the demolition has proceeded adequately to the north, the new storm sewer installation will begin, starting at 9th Street and moving north to 8th Street.

For safety and construction access, some parking near the active demolition and construction will be closed incrementally. These spaces will be reopened after work is completed in the area.

It is anticipated, weather permitting, that the storm sewer installation and replacement sidewalk project will be completed in September.
