Survival Savvy: PPNC camp to focus on survival skills

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s Prairie Park Nature Center is hosting an adventure camp challenging campers’ survival wits.

Kid vs Wild invites campers six years-old to 13 years-old to test their survival I.Q. against a plethora of challenges and theoretical situations. Campers will learn about navigation, fire building, water purification and other valuable survival skills that animals use daily. Campers must bring a lunch and wear appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear.

Camp runs 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday, June 10-14, at Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St. An extended camp option running from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. is also available. Cost of the camp is $120 per child, per week. The extended camp costs $145 per child, per week.
