City Manager announces three finalists for Chief of the Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical Department

Lawrence City Manager Tom Markus announced today that the search for a new chief of the Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical Department has been narrowed to three finalists. The individuals moving to the next steps and final interviews in this selection process are:

  • Interim Fire Chief Shaun Coffey, Lawrence, Kan.
  • Division Chief Tom Fagan, Lawrence, Kan.
  • Emergency Medical Services Chief Michael Baker, Tulsa, Okla.

The next steps in the interview process include a public reception to meet the candidates happening from 4:30 to 6:45 p.m. on Friday, June 7 at Flory Hall in the Douglas County Fairgrounds, 2120 Harper St. On Saturday, June 8, each candidate will give a public presentation and respond to questions submitted from the community. The public presentations and Q&A will take place from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Lawrence Public Library Auditorium, 707 Vermont St. Executive interviews will be conducted at City Hall, 6 E 6th St., during the afternoon of June 8.

Public participation is encouraged for the events on Friday night and Saturday morning. Questions can be submitted either electronically, available from now until Thursday, June 6, or in-person at the public meet & greet on Friday, June 7.
