Prairie Park Nature Center presents Where the Wild Things Are

June 17, 2019

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s Prairie Park Nature Center is holding an adventure camp, giving youth the chance to develop an enthusiasm for wildlife.

Where the Wild Things Are provides children six years-old to 13 years-old the opportunity to practice their naturalist skills as they learn to identify animal tracks, read wildlife signs and find animal hiding places. Students will learn the importance of a good habitat and how it affects the survival of animals such as snakes, bugs and birds. Campers must bring a sack lunch and wear appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear.

Camp runs daily 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday, July 8-12, but there is also an extended camp option, running 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, July 8-12, at Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St. The cost of the camp is $120 per child, per week. The extended camp costs $145 per child, per week.

The adventure camps at Prairie Park Nature Center are designed to explore science in the outdoors. Their focus is on different wildlife, conservation, survival, extreme animals and other elements of science and nature.
