Hoopster basketball offer competitive leagues for youth

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s Youth Sports Division is accepting team registrations for its third grade through seventh grade competitive basketball program, Hoopster basketball. Second grade teams are made up of individual entry registration.

The Hoopster basketball program is designed at a competitive level. Hoopster leagues are open to children in second-grade through seventh-grade. All leagues are limited to the first eight teams. Registration deadline is Thursday, Sept. 5.

All Hoopster league practices will begin the week of Monday, Nov. 4 with games beginning as early as Sunday, Nov. 17, and running through March 5. Teams will play 10 to 12 league games with no post-season tournament.

Teams must provide their own basketballs and uniforms. Cost to participate in the Hoopster program is $125 per individual for second-grade entry. Cost for third grade to seventh-grade Hoopsters is $985 per team.
