Construction to alter traffic patterns on East 19th Street beginning April 6

Kevin PowellCity, Construction, Municipal Services and Operations

Beginning Monday, April 6, street maintenance rehabilitation and sidewalk gap project work will necessitate lane closures on East 19th Street between Massachusetts Street and Haskell Avenue for approximately six weeks.

Starting on Monday, the eastbound lane of 19th Street from Massachusetts Street to Haskell Avenue will be closed to traffic for approximately three weeks. The westbound lane of 19th Street will remain open during this time.

Once the eastbound lane work is completed and reopened to traffic, the westbound lane will be closed for street maintenance work for approximately three weeks.

Additionally, East 19th Street from Haskell Avenue to east of Almira Drive will have single lane closures intermittently during these closures.

Traffic control will be in place, and suggested detours will be marked, utilizing East 15th Street or East 23rd Street to Haskell Avenue and Harper Street.

These closures will impact bus Routes 1 and 15. For information on reroutes, visit LawrenceTransit.org, call 785-864-4644 or visit the Lawrence Transit Facebook page.

Updates will be provided as necessary. All project timelines are subject to change due to weather and other project-related delays. For more information on construction projects and traffic alterations in Lawrence, visit lawrenceks.org/construction.
