LPRD Gymnastics programs highlight ninja warrior skills

Lawrence Parks and Recreation offers yearlong ninja warrior programs for children of all skill levels. Registration is ongoing and may be done on a monthly basis. If classes are filled, you may opt to be put on a waitlist and notified when a spot becomes available. All classes are currently held at Sports Pavilion Lawrence®, 100 Rock Chalk Ln.

Little Ninja Warriors is available for participants four to five years-old. Little ninjas will learn basic entry-level parkour, gymnastics and ninja warrior skills such as hanging obstacles, pegboard, vault, cargo net, safety falls, agility and tumbling. This program is available Tuesdays, 5:30-6:25 p.m., Wednesdays, 4:20-5:15 p.m., Thursdays, 6:40-7:35 p.m. and Fridays, 5:20-6:15 p.m. Enroll online at http://lprd.org/activity?n=916004.

Ninja Warrior Stars is for participants six to nine years-old. Students will reinforce the core skills learned in Little Ninja Warriors and improve speed, balance, strength and agility. Ninja Warrior Stars is offered Tuesdays, 6:40-7:35 p.m., Thursdays, 4:20-5:15 p.m., Saturdays, 10-10:55 a.m. and Sundays 1-1:55 p.m. Enroll online: http://lprd.org/activity?n=916005.

Ninja Warrior Advanced is for participants 10 to 14 years-old. This class is for ninjas who have completed the skills in the beginning programs. Students will master all beginner progressions such as rolling, hand support, spotted flipping, wall progressions, precision jumps and basic transitions. Students will be lead through the Ninja Warriors series’ most difficult and rigorous obstacles. Ninja Warrior Advanced is offered Wednesdays, 6:40-8:05 p.m. and Saturdays, 2:20-3:45 p.m. Enroll online http://lprd.org/activity?n=916003.

Gymnastics classes require face coverings to be worn at all times for children ages five and older and are following COVID-19 safety guidelines, which can be found at https://assets.lawrenceks.org/lprd/covid/gymnastics.pdf.

Conditions will be continuously monitored and reviewed in consultation with public health professionals. Status updates will continue to be updated every Thursday to indicate the current risk level using green, yellow, orange or red based on the number of new cases, trends and percentage of positive COVID-19 test to mirror Lawrence-Douglas County Health’s recommendations being used for the Smart and Safe School Reopening Guidelines and Status for county schools.
