Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department and River Rat Skate Shop are offering a co-sponsored skate competition at Centennial Park.
The competition will feature multiple events, including jam session style contests with beginner, intermediate and advanced categories. There will also be a best trick contest on a variety of obstacles. Contestants will be judged by the River Rat team, who will also have a team demonstration following the contest. Prizes will be given to winners and there will be a product toss at the event. All participants are required to wear a protective helmet.
The competition takes place 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at Centennial Park. Contestants can register to compete starting at 1 p.m.
