LPRD offers adaptive and inclusive programming for individuals of all abilities

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s Special Populations division is providing classes and programs that are adaptive to accommodate all ranges of abilities, including, but not limited to, those individuals  with an intellectual disability or with autism.

Special Populations September classes include Bowling, Acting, Art Classes, and Zumba.

Bowling lets participants enjoy an afternoon of bowling and socializing with friends. It will be held 3-5 p.m. Saturday, September 18 at Royal Crest Lanes, 933 Iowa St. Cost is $15 per person. Acting is available for participants wanting to join the fun and try something new. Acting involves public speaking, performing skits, plays and a chance to be a star. Classes are held 6:30-8 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 20-Dec. 20 at the Community Building, 115 W. 11th St. Cost is $40 per person. To enroll online, please visit http://lprd.org/activity?n=422401. Art Classes are available for individuals wanting to flex their creativity. Art projects include jewelry, painting, holiday ornaments and more. Classes are held 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 21-Nov. 9 at the Community Building. Cost is $40 per person. To enroll online, please visit http://lprd.org/activity?n=422191. Zumba offers a low-impact, easy to follow, Latin-inspired dance fitness workout to stay in shape and have fun. It will be held 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 23-Nov. 11 at the Community Building.
