Lawrence Transit invites the community to a ribbon cutting event celebrating the construction and installation of five wooden bus shelters, hand-built by students at Peaslee Tech.
This project was made possible by a generous AARP grant in partnership with the United Way. These shelters have been installed at locations that previously did not have any bus stop amenities.
Location: Bus Stop 316 near the intersection of Stewart and 21st
Date: Saturday, October 9th
Time: 10 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Order of events:
10:00 a.m.: Gather for coffee, socially distant mingling
10:10 a.m.: Commissioner remarks
10:15 a.m.: Lawrence Transit remarks
10:20 a.m.: United Way remarks
10:25 a.m.: Peaslee Tech remarks
10:30 a.m.: Socially distant photos

This event will take place outside. The majority of the event will take place in a grassy area adjacent to the bus stop. Parking is available near the site.
All COVID-19 protocols in place for Douglas County at the time of the event will be followed for the ribbon cutting. Currently, protocols strongly encourage all attendees older than 2-years-old to wear a face covering. Protocols may change prior to the event. Please check LDChealth.org to stay up to date on public health recommendations prior to the ribbon cutting.
