Learn a classic Olympic sport with LPRD’s fencing class

Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s Lifelong Recreation division is hosting a fencing class that is open to both beginners and more experienced fencers.

Fencing: Modern Olympic Sport will feature instruction in foil, epee and saber, emphasizing technique, tactics, strategy and psychology. Beginners will learn the basics of fencing while experienced fencers work on sharpening their skills. Participants will get in a good workout and have fun while learning this unique Olympic sport.

Fencing: Modern Olympic Sport will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursdays, March 24-May 12, at Sports Pavilion Lawrence®, 100 Rock Chalk Lane. Cost is $72 per person.

Face coverings are encouraged and appreciated for visitors to City facilities. Masks must be worn at all times while visiting any LPRD facilities unless actively participating in a class, during which participants 11 years-old and older may remove their face coverings.
