Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department and the Lawrence Breakfast Optimist Club are hosting a pickleball tournament this August for avid fans of the racket sport.
The Pickleball Tournament is open for both men’s and women’s teams, consisting of two people per team. Divisions will be established based on the combined ages of the two team members. Winners of the Pickleball Tournament, based on the win/loss record in their division, will be awarded medals immediately following their division’s round robin games.
The deadline to register for the tournament is Monday, Aug. 8. Games begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 20 at Lyons Park, 700 Lyon St. Teams will be notified of their exact start times one week before the tournament. Cost is $40 per person. All proceeds benefit the Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s Wee Folks Scholarship Fund and the Lawrence Breakfast Optimist Foundation. Lunch is included for all registered teams.
