Division Chief Fagan named Fire Chief of Marion, Iowa

August 19, 2022

Tom Fagan, who has served as Interim Chief of Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical (LDCFM) for the past eight months, announced today that he has been selected as the next Chief of the Marion, Iowa Fire Department.

“I am appreciative of the time and all the experience I gained here in Lawrence and Douglas County,” said Fagan. “I know it will help me in my next chapter and benefit the City of Marion. While I’m sad to leave Lawrence, I know that the Lawrence and Douglas County community is in very good hands with the superb LDCFM team.”

Fagan joined LDCFM in 2018 and, except for his time as Interim Chief, served as Division Chief of Administration during his tenure. Prior to joining LDCFM, Fagan served 17 years with the City of Lee’s Summit, Mo. Fire Department.

“I want to thank Tom for his excellent service, particularly for his work as Interim Chief,” said City Manager Craig Owens. “I have complete confidence that Tom will shine in his new role and serve the City of Marion with the same dedicated excellence that he brought to our community.”

Fagan will start his new position at the end of September.
