With the extremely cold temperatures this week, the City of Lawrence solid waste team is encountering equipment and logistical challenges that will affect some solid waste collection.
The commercial and cardboard “OCC” routes will not be serviced today, Dec. 23. Those routes will be serviced beginning Monday, Dec. 26, and will continue throughout next week until they are caught up.
If equipment breakdowns continue, it could cause some residential solid waste collection routes to be missed this week. If that happens, the solid waste team will collect residential trash and recycling on their next scheduled day of service.
