City postponing January 30 Community Police Oversight Work Group meeting

Kevin PowellCity, Police

The meeting of the Community Police Oversight Work Group originally scheduled for Monday, Jan. 30, has been postponed. There are lingering vacancies and unresolved questions regarding Community Police Review Board (CPRB) representation on the Work Group, which could interfere with the group’s ability to constructively initiate and engage in this work.

The meeting will be rescheduled once the issues of representation are resolved and the list of Work Group members has been finalized by the respective parties outlined in the Project Charter.

The City assembled the Community-Police Oversight Work Group to review the complaint process, which includes a review of the CPRB draft ordinance, and to make recommendations concerning the CPRB’s role and authority in serving in an advisory, oversight and/or review capacity.

The City is working with Facilitator Jonathan Morris, with J Morris Consulting, and his team to facilitate the Work Group.
