City of Lawrence names Cori Wallace Director of Communications and Community Relations

The City of Lawrence announced today that Cori Wallace has been named Director of Communications and Community Relations. Wallace will oversee the team responsible for communications and community engagement. She begins her new role Monday, July 31.

“Cori has a deep understanding of the importance of communication in building strong relationships and creating a positive community environment,” said City Manager Craig Owens. “She really seems to understand the importance of trust as we build community.”

Wallace comes to Lawrence from Della Lamb Community Services, a non-profit organization in Kansas City, Mo., where she served as Engagement Director. She has previously led communications, event and engagement efforts with multiple local, regional and national non-profit organizations such as the March of Dimes, the Rose Brooks Center, and the Miss America Organization. She is focused on building a positive affinity and trust with Lawrence community stakeholders and ensuring collaboration when addressing key issues and their impact to the community.

“I am excited to serve the City of Lawrence and be a part of the team working to make Lawrence a place where all can enjoy life and feel at home.” said Wallace. “The core mission, vision and values of our city speak directly to how communications and community engagement are integral to supporting our residents.”

Wallace has a bachelor’s degree in English Communications – Media from William Woods University. She is an alumni board member for her alma mater, and sits on the Board of Directors for Flourish Furniture Bank.
