The City of Lawrence is thrilled to invite residents to a joint celebration of America Recycles Day and the 10-year anniversary of the City’s curbside recycling program! Join us on Saturday, November 16, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Lawrence Public Library for an exciting, family-friendly event that celebrates a decade of recycling achievements and our community’s commitment to sustainability.
Attendees can look forward to engaging recycling games for kids, exclusive giveaways, and delicious cookies. Highlights of the day include live demonstrations of our automated side loader (ASL) recycling truck, which handle curbside recycling collection.
Our local Material Recovery Facility (MRF) operator, HAMM, will be on hand to answer questions about how recycling is processed, and representatives from Douglas County Sustainability and Prairie Park Nature Center—along with some of their critters—will join us to share valuable resources and insights on keeping our community green.
This event is free and open to the public, so bring the whole family and join us in making Lawrence cleaner, greener, and more sustainable!
