Animal Control

Animal Control has three full time employees who generally work daytime hours, seven days a week, subject to staff availability.  The Humane Society should be called for after hours situations involving injured animals.

When an at large animal is picked up, it is taken to the Lawrence Humane Society.  Animal owners need to contact the Humane Society and verify that their animal is there.  If the Humane Society has the animal, and it was picked up by City Animal Control, owners will need to come to the Police Station, 5100 Overland Drive, before the animal will be released.  The pick up fee will be at least $10.  Citations are possible for animal control violations.

To report a loose or captured animal, call (785) 832-7509.
