HISTORY
Veterans Park, at one time, was the original site of barracks for military students and trainees. It was established as a park in 1947 and was named in honor of veterans of all wars.

DESCRIPTION OF PARK
Veterans Park, a 3-acre piece of land, is located on the corner of Louisiana and 19th Sts. and is home to a beautiful rose garden. The Eutin Rose Garden, named after the City of Lawrence’s sister city in Germany, is a popular attraction for both visitors and residents in the summer. Full of flowers and trees, Veterans Park is also home to basketball and tennis courts, as well as playground equipment and a large berm area for families to visit.

There are no shelters located in Veterans Park.

 

If you are looking to reserve an outdoor shelters and/or indoor facility, reservations are taken at any of the community recreation centers including the Community Building, 115 West 11th St.; East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 East 15th St.; Holcom Park Recreation Center, 2700 West 27th St.; Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive; or Sports Pavilion Lawrence, 100 Rock Chalk Lane.
