HISTORY
In 1953, the City purchased two acres on which to create Water Tower Park.
This park is named for its position at the base of a water tower. It was developed in the early 90s, when playground equipment was added.
DESCRIPTION OF PARK
Sitting at the base of a water tower, this park is located in the neighborhood bordering campus. Water Tower Park is often the location of pick-up games of football, soccer and basketball due to is wide open space and the close proximity of both fraternity and sorority houses.

There are no shelters located in Water Tower Park.
If you are looking to reserve an outdoor shelters and/or indoor facility, reservations are taken at any of the community recreation centers including the Community Building, 115 West 11th St.; East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 East 15th St.; Holcom Park Recreation Center, 2700 West 27th St.; Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive; or Sports Pavilion Lawrence, 100 Rock Chalk Lane.
