Spend some time  learning about nature! Prairie Park offers programs and tours designed just for preschool aged groups include live animals, stories, songs, outdoor exploration, crafts and lots of fun. Bring your preschoolers to the nature center or we can bring the program to you.

 

PRESCHOOL PROGRAM TOPICS

  • Seeds and Leaves: Discover the wonders of plants. Children will investigate the different parts of a plant and learn about the relationship between plants and animals.

  • Who Lives in a Tree?: From their leafy branches to their tangled roots, trees provide a habitat for many plants and animals. Children will learn how animals use trees in different ways to survive.  They wil meet some live animals who make their homes in trees.

  • What's That Habitat?: From a hole in the ground to a nest in a  tree, animals live in a wide variety of habitats.  Children will meet several animal  from different habitats and learn about the life of each unique creature.

  • Let's Get Buggy!: What makes a bug? Children will learn about the amazing world of little bugs and meet them up close and alive.

  • Our Wild Neighbors: Children discover what wild critters may share their backyards. They will learn how wild animals make a living in cities, and neighborhoods.

  • All Creatures Great and Small: Children will be able to have a touch and feel experience with live animals as they learn about the different animal groups.

  • Mammals and Me: What do you have in common with a rabbit, deer and an opossum? children will learn what makes an animal a mammal and how fur is unique to the animal who wears it.

  • Nature's Colors: Children will learn about the many ways color and patterns are important to the lives of plants and animals in nature.  The will see how color helps animals hide in the open or stand out to find a mate.

 

COSTS AND SCHEDULING 

  • $80  at the nature center
  • $100  at your facility. Mileage is charged to and from your facility outside of the city limits.

NOW OFFERING GUIDED TOURS

Guided tours are available to groups up to 30 persons, by scheduling over the phone in advance. There are interpreted walks around the building with a naturalist staff member. Tours  inside include a couple of live animal visits..

COSTS AND SCHEDULING 

  • $30 for 1/2 hour
  • $45 for an hour
  • Self-guided tours are free (must schedual in advance)
