Honor Guard

Due to the ongoing winter storm, City facilities, including City Hall and all Parks, Recreation and Culture facilities, will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 18. This is due to the forecasted winter storm resulting in dangerous travel conditions.

The International Association of Firefighters Local 1596 Honor Guard was formed in March of 2002 to represent our Brothers and Sisters with the highest honor and distinction at ceremonial functions.

The Honor Guard members hold the tradition of the fire service sacred and they dedicate their service to those Brothers and Sisters who gave their lives in the service to their community.

The Honor Guard is sponsored by the Firefighters Local 1596, with support from the Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical Department. The Honor Guard participates in events year round such as parades, memorial services, funerals, and other firefighter related events.
